{"id":52211,"date":"2016-09-25T15:50:17","date_gmt":"2016-09-25T19:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/?p=52211"},"modified":"2016-09-25T15:50:17","modified_gmt":"2016-09-25T19:50:17","slug":"4-h-giant-pumpkin-auction-to-take-place-on-october-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/2016\/09\/25\/4-h-giant-pumpkin-auction-to-take-place-on-october-2\/","title":{"rendered":"4-H Giant Pumpkin auction to take place on October 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tioga County 4-H Giant Pumpkin program will be holding an auction on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Iron Kettle Farm in Candor, N.Y.\u00a0Youth participating in the Giant Pumpkin Project have been raising their pumpkins since April and their final activity is to auction the pumpkins off to the highest bidder.<\/p>\n<p>Tioga County 4-H Members learned valuable lessons while raising their pumpkins resulting in a variety of pumpkin sizes and shapes.<\/p>\n<p>Youth from across Tioga County will bring their pumpkins to Iron Kettle Farms on Friday, Sept. 30, for a weigh-in from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.\u00a0The pumpkins will then be on display for all to see until the auction on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>All pumpkins, both big and small, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.\u00a0Last year\u2019s pumpkins weighed anywhere from 11 pounds up to a whopping 365 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in joining this exciting and ever popular 4-H Project, call Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County for more information about participating in the 2017 4-H Giant Pumpkin Project.<\/p>\n<p>4-H is a unique, informal educational program that supplements training received in home, school, church and other youth-serving agencies.\u00a0Open to all youth, ages five to 19 years of age, 4-H utilizes a real-life work experience where the individual sets his or her own goals for achievement.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about 4-H in Tioga County, call Cornell Cooperative Extension, Tioga County at 687-4020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tioga County 4-H Giant Pumpkin program will be holding an auction on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Iron Kettle Farm in Candor, N.Y.\u00a0Youth participating in&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-52211","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-whats-happening"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.2 -
