Many residents in long-term care facilities have family or friends who visit and help them adjust to living in their new home. But what does a resident do when no one is around? \u00a0Who is there to explain their rights as residents?<\/p>\n
Oftentimes, long-term care facilities\u2019 rules and regulations are difficult to navigate on one\u2019s own. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is available to support individuals living in long-term care facilities.<\/p>\n
Action for Older Persons will present information on this program on the following dates: Friday, June 3, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego; and on Tuesday, July 12, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Community Care Network of Nichols, 139 Roki Blvd., Nichols.<\/p>\n
This presentation will offer a brief history of the Ombudsman program, and will describe its critical role in supporting residents, family members, and facility staff. The responsibilities of an Ombudsman and how to become involved in the program will also be discussed.<\/p>\n
