It\u2019s now the 17th, two days after the Owego Village election for Mayor and I still can\u2019t find any websites that will tell you the count of the votes. And in fact, the Tioga County Election Board website hasn\u2019t been updated since 2010. I started reading the Owego Village website and I got how close it was then realized it was last year\u2019s. Does anybody ever update the websites? They certainly pay enough to two various software people to keep updating our computer spaces and plus, Owego is famous for being the last people in any election to report the results. Is that the way they plan it or is it just because they don\u2019t know how to do it?<\/p>\n

Life is a matter of perspective; someone here called Paul Ryan a failure. Let\u2019s consider he was elected Speaker of the House by votes on both sides of the isle, something that in the last two decades has been as rare as hen\u2019s teeth. He no longer has to keep a grueling schedule of politicking in all of 50 states. He no longer has to put up with constant debates of being attacked or attacking his fellow party members and the opposition. He\u2019s not on a continuous round of fundraising for fickle bachelors demanding their pet projects down the road. Instead he calmly sits on the sidelines only two heartbeats away from that hard fought presidency. As Speaker of the House he controls what legislation is put before the president in which goes into other oblivion. By law, his position is the second most powerful position in this country. Paul Ryan, a man who someone calls a failure. I wish we could all fail so spectacularly.<\/p>\n

As far as the Cal Harris trial, it\u2019s like beating a dead horse. Someone said when the horse is dead it\u2019s time to dismount. That\u2019s what we should do with that, dismount.<\/p>\n

I understand that some American companies are going to set up in Cuba. These are minimum wage jobs. The Cuban employees work and turn their money over to the government then the Cuban officials are going to turn over 20 hours a month for the employees, the government keeps the rest. What a great country and friend we have in Cuba.<\/p>\n

All the Republicans have the idea that Ronald Reagan could walk on water, couldn\u2019t do anything wrong. No one likes to mention wants to mention the Iran Contra Deal. If anyone knows anything about the Iran Contra Deal, that was not one of Reagan\u2019s best moments. It was kind of an underhanded deal.<\/p>\n

The Red Cross says if you travel to Mexico or the Caribbean or Central or South America, wait 28 days before giving blood. Oh, by the way, if you develop any symptoms in the two weeks after giving blood let the Red Cross know so your donation can be quarantined but what if it has already been used in an emergency? Then what? Can they haul it back? Why not simply put a two-month moratorium on donations instead. Then it would be really safe than sorry.<\/p>\n

So nice to see the legislature lying to the public again. In the State of the County Address, they stated that the unemployment rate went down, and noted her appreciation for county employees. Did she mention that the county run bus service closed down? What about those people? Drivers, office workers, mechanics and those who rely on the bus service for their jobs? Did she mention them in the unemployment rate? She stated the state mandate for trying to stay under the tax cap. Did she mention that Tioga County now spends on an outside bus service? Broome and Chemung? The taxpayers are paying outside counties to run public transportation in our counties for a cost more than keeping our bus service open. Did she mention the extra cost to Medicaid for having taxis take people everywhere? There\u2019s a lot more to the county than rainbows and sunshine.<\/p>\n
