The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 261 Main St. in Owego.<\/p>\n<p>The Taxpayers First candidates are Steve May for Mayor (currently a Trustee); Earl Hartman for Trustee (running for re-election); Mike Phelps for Trustee (running for re-election); and Ed Morton for Trustee (first-time candidate).<\/p>\n<p>The Taxpayers First platform for the Village is focused on three key priorities: Financial Accuracy and Accountability; Maximizing Efficiency and Effectiveness; and Ensuring That Taxpayers Make Final Decisions on Major Issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVillage residents deserve to have a direct line of communication with those who seek to represent them,\u201d said May, Mayoral candidate. \u201cI hope voters will attend on March 8 to hear the facts about the significant changes we need at Village Hall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe encourage all residents to come to this Voter Information Night to learn what our team will do to improve Village finances, sewer billing and other issues,\u201d said Hartman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re disappointed in the misinformation being put out by our opponents,\u201d said Phelps. \u201cThis Meet and Greet will give voters the chance to hear directly from us about where we really stand on important issues facing Owego.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing is more important in our democracy than the people having access to elected officials and candidates,\u201d said Morton. \u201cVoters should know that our team is truly committed to being open and accessible with Village information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The March 8 event is open to any Village of Owego resident and light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to hosting this event, May, Phelps, Hartman and Morton encourage Village residents to contact them personally at any time with questions or comments leading up to the March 15 election.<\/p>\n<p>All Village residents are eligible to vote if they are registered with the Tioga County Board of Elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Owego Village candidates running on the \u201cTaxpayers First\u201d ballot line recently announced that they are hosting a Meet The Candidates Voter Information Night on Tuesday,&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-49010","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-whats-happening"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.2 -
