Chenango River Theatre\u2019s (CRT) upcoming Winter Gala will honor Binghamton\u2019s own Bill Gorman, well-known actor, photographer and teacher, for his outstanding contributions and service to the area\u2019s first professional, non-profit theatre company.\u00a0Gorman recently rotated off CRT\u2019s board, having served two different stints as Board President over the last few years, while helping guide the company\u2019s growth as CRT approaches it\u2019s 10th season.<\/p>\n

As one of the Binghamton area\u2019s only Equity actors, Gorman has performed at CRT in Other People\u2019s Money (2008), Broadway Bound (2012), and Heroes (2014).\u00a0Overall he has appeared in more than 150 productions, including work with Syracuse Stage, Hangar Theatre, Kitchen Theatre, Cider Mill Playhouse, Vermont Stage, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, South Carolina Rep, and others.<\/p>\n

Gorman originally earned his union (Equity) card in NYC productions, including The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Diviners and Julius Caesar.\u00a0 For WSKG Bill has narrated a number of Brian Frey\u2019s Emmy Award winning documentaries, directed both Twilight Zone Live (for which he was nominated for a New York State Emmy Award) and Laura Cunningham’s Frack You.<\/p>\n

CRT\u2019s 9th Annual Winter Gala will be held at the Silo Restaurant on Jan. 23 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.\u00a0One of Binghamton\u2019s favorite bands, Old Friends, will perform throughout the evening.<\/p>\n

Open to the public and featuring over 100 items donated by area merchants, the Silent and Live Auctions include great bargains on vacation trips, fine artwork, jewelry, sports memorabilia and gift certificates to area attractions and restaurants.\u00a0Tickets are available online through CRT\u2019s website (www.chenangorivertheatre.org<\/a>) or by calling the business office at (607) 656-8778.<\/p>\n

Admission includes a wide variety of the Silo\u2019s famed appetizers, plus carving stations with a selection of meats, as well as a wealth of desserts. Complimentary wine, beer and soda are also included.\u00a0Tickets are $65 per person, which includes a tax-deductible gift to the theatre.
