Owego was chosen as the venue for the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) annual Board of Directors retreat. Members of the board come from the five counties – Sullivan, Potter, Tioga and Bradford Counties in Pa., and Tioga, N.Y. served by CFTT and each year a different county is chosen for the retreat so that board members can experience what each of the five counties has to offer.<\/p>\n

Owego was chosen this year so that board members could experience its variety of special attractions. The retreat started with a welcome from the Tioga County Tourism Office, which shared information about Tioga County.<\/p>\n

The group enjoyed a spectacular dinner at the Cellar Restaurant overlooking the Susquehanna River. After shopping from local vendors and experiencing the Farm to Fork event, they toured the Owego River Walk, while learning about the interesting history of the entire county.<\/p>\n

The conclusion of the tour was a stroll past the Parkview Hotel and Restaurant in which Floyd \u201cVic\u201d Hooker lived. The Floyd Hooker Estate Fund is one of CFTT\u2019s largest funds. Everyone expressed appreciation for the beauty of the area and plans to visit again to enjoy everything the county has to offer.<\/p>\n

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers is a charitable giving vehicle for individuals, families, businesses, and local non-profits to set up endowment funds, which will forever provide financial distributions to charities, scholarships, or general needs in the communities that it serves.<\/p>\n

The Foundation works with donors individually to establish permanent and sustainable funding in areas of donors\u2019 personal interests. Such funds provide a revenue stream that lasts forever, allowing donors to invest in long term solutions to the constantly changing needs in our communities.<\/p>\n
