The fall season is a beautiful time of year in Tioga County, and fall activities are plentiful through the end of October and into Nov. 1, to include the upcoming Candor Fall Festivities taking place Oct. 9, 10 and 11 throughout Candor, N.Y. Other activities include the incredibly popular corn maze at Stoughton Farm,<\/i> and part of the \u201cagritainment\u201d trend, is located at 10898 State Rte. 38 in Newark Valley, N.Y. Now celebrating more than a decade of fun, the maze at Stoughton Farm gives visitors the chance to \u201cget lost\u201d through Nov. 1.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s maze, which includes eight or more acres of corn, was designed to bring attention to the issue of bullying. The pathways spell out \u201cBullying Hurts,\u201d and challenges maze guests to walk through more than two miles of twists and turns and be faced with 85 decision points. Guests who choose the best path can walk the maze in under 30 minutes, however \u201cdirectionally-challenged\u201d visitors should plan to spend one hour or more from start to finish.<\/p>\n

Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the last maze admission at 5:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. features a late night flashlight with last admission at 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with last maze admission at 4:30 p.m. The farm remains open through Nov. 22 for produce sales on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

Cost is $9 for ages 10 and up, $6 for ages four to nine and kids age three and under are free.<\/p>\n

The maze is open daily, however additional attractions including the jumping pillow, cow train, hayride, pumpkin blaster and corn cannon, among others, as well as concessions, are open on weekends and the upcoming four-day Columbus Day holiday.<\/p>\n

Iron Kettle Farm,<\/i> located on Rte. 96 at 707 Owego Rd. in Candor, N.Y., has been a \u201cspooktacular\u201d destination filled with fun for 46 years. This summer, the main market was renovated with a new floor and roof.<\/p>\n

One of the most popular attractions on the farm is the pumpkin display of 300 or more famous book characters and notable people. The best pumpkins are selected each season, and then primped and pampered, along with painted faces and expressions, until they look just right.<\/p>\n

Activities include the spook and fun barns, pumpkin express train, hayrides, obstacle course, castle and tunnel play areas, pedal tractors and barnyard ball, just to name a few. There is plenty of fun for teens and adults, too, like the pumpkin slingshot, football throw, corn maze, and much more.<\/p>\n

Open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., activities generally start after 10 a.m., however it is recommended to call ahead. Tickets are $1.25 each or $13 for a dozen.<\/p>\n

Visitors will be impressed with the variety of treats and homemade baked goods including homemade fudge, donuts, half-moon cookies, caramel apples, pies, jams, and apple cider and kettle corn. Check for the \u201cIron Kettle Farm\u201d label to purchase a product made right at the farm. Also at the farm are New York State apples, fall mums, winter squash, gourds, corn stalks and potatoes, to name a few. Before you leave, be sure to stop in Grandma\u2019s Barn, which includes a variety of items stocked by the farm as well as some made by local crafters.<\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s Farm<\/i>, a fall family tradition for 57 years, is located at 6425 Rte. 17C in Endicott, N.Y. (Campville).<\/p>\n

The Punkin Seed Emporium gift shop is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features antiques, collectibles, gifts and treats.<\/p>\n

Fall activities are scheduled on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Age and height restrictions apply to certain activities. Tickets are $1.25 each.
