Note from Editor:\u00a0The Traci’s Hope BBQ and Fundraiser has been rescheduled to Oct. 10 at the same location. However, the Traci’s Hope Motorcycle Ride is cancelled! The rescheduled date for Traci’s Hope conflicts with key people involved in setting up the ride, but organizers are encouraging bikers to attend the BBQ and fundraiser on Oct. 10, and it may be a good day for a ride anyhow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The twelfth annual Traci\u2019s Hope BBQ is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 (new date). The community is invited to enjoy a Smokey Legend BBQ along with fun activities, great music and good company from noon to 6 p.m. at the Apalachin Field Day Grounds. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children age six to 12.<\/p>\n

Traci\u2019s Hope, a non-profit organization, is pleased to have helped 520 people to date and has donated upwards of $389,000. Money raised goes right back into the community. For residents of Tioga and Broome Counties in N.Y. and Susquehanna and Bradford Counties in Pa., Traci\u2019s Hope helps individuals undergoing breast cancer treatments pay for expenses outside of medical bills, such as gas money to get to appointments, childcare, mortgage or utility bills, or house cleaning, to name just a few.<\/p>\n

Traci Gibson was diagnosed with Stage 3b breast cancer at the age of 31 and lived with the disease for seven years. Traci\u2019s Hope was her inspiration, a fund set up to help breast cancer patients lessen the burden of overwhelming expenses. Traci passed away on Oct. 3, 2006, and today family and friends carry on her mission.<\/p>\n

A nail drive competition and the popular ball drop game, along with raffles, a merchandise tent, and activities for children like a bounce house and face painting are just a few of the activities planned. New this year; \u201cSticky Fingers\u201d will be serving up classic cotton candy and snow cones.<\/p>\n

Traci\u2019s Hope October events also include the tenth annual \u201cPink Light Night\u201d, scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Montrose Fire Hall in Montrose, Pa. The event features door prizes, a Chinese auction and refreshments, along with a one-mile fun walk and sky lantern release. \u00a0Walk registration is $10, and sky lanterns are $5 each with all proceeds benefitting Traci\u2019s Hope. The sixth annual \u201cBraziers for Hope\u201d is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Vestal Elks Lodge, 2072 Vestal Parkway West, Vestal, N.Y. \u00a0In addition to one-of-a-kind bras made by creative \u201cbra-artisans\u201d, a silent auction will feature custom gift baskets and a 50\/50 raffle.
