The Historic Owego Marketplace\u2019s Friday Art Walk continues on Sept. 4 with a full line up of art, entertainment, and dining options for First Friday. The very popular Art Walk Passport continues as a walking guide around the Village beginning at the Front Street Deck with live entertainment, and concluding with the Art Mingle with a prize drawing using a stamped Passport turned in for the chance to win art and gift certificates. Openings, shows, receptions, demonstrations, and entertainment are free and the public is invited.<\/p>\n
On the Front Street Deck, located at 200 Front St., will present The Jim Overhiser Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The eclectic play list ranges from 60\u2019s rock, folk and blues hits, combined with some old corner tunes from the 40\u2019s and 50\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Also on The Deck is emerging local artist Laine Cyr showing his abstract paintings and demonstrating his technique using acrylic and oil.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m. at Artisan\u2019s Townhouse, located at 42 Lake St., \u201cWild, Abandoned Places, Both Near and Far\u201d, a photography show by Lisa Orend will be presented.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m. at the Black Cat Gallery, located at 190 Front St., Denise Tarbox will be the featured artist of the month. Black Cat will also present musical performers Robert and Gordie. The multi-talented duo performs an eclectic mix of country, blues, rock and jazz.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m. at Carol\u2019s Coffee & Art Bar located at 177 Front St., this new Owego business will celebrate their Grand Opening. Fine coffee, baked goods, and the artwork of Carol Livermore will be the focus of this lively shop. Carol\u2019s paintings are widely known for her large, bold, and vivid oil on linen and canvas.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m. at Gallery Forty-One, located at 41 Lake St. will present a never before seen artist in the region with a show and opening reception of \u201cLeaf Art: The Colors of Joy\u201d by Teri Stratford. Special musical guest Burt Mueller will perform finger style classical guitar.<\/p>\n
From 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hand of Man, a collection of paintings by mixed media artist Liz Greenman will be presented.<\/p>\n
From 6 to 8:30 p.m., acoustic guitarist Jon Davis will perform at Las Chicas Taqueria, located at 208 Front St.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m. at Lily Style Loft, located at 32-34 Lake St., a demonstration of \u201cColor Changes Everything\u201d will be presented.<\/p>\n
At Original\u2019s Bar and Lounge, located at 23 Lake St., the abstract art by Anthony Cerretani will be on display through Sept. 30.<\/p>\n
Owego\u2019s Parkview Hotel and Restaurant, located at 145 Front St., will host artist Tom Brown from 5 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m. at Quilter\u2019s Haven, located at 17 Lake St., Bonnie Hall\u2019s demonstration and show will present an interesting look into the past. \u201cYour Grandmother\u2019s Apron\u201d will feature seasonal and old-fashioned aprons including Church Ladies\u2019 aprons<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m., Riverow Bookshop, located at 187 Front St. will host a unique opportunity to catch a fly-tying demonstration of “River Flies and Stream Flies” with Brandon Smith. The focus will be on tying bait for use at local fishing areas; big monster bait for muskies in the Susquehanna River and dry flies for freshwater fish found in area creeks and streams.<\/p>\n
From 6 to 8 p.m., The Early Owego Antique Center, located at 43-45 Lake St. will host \u201cPhonographic Salon\u201d presented by local collector and music historian Philip Herin; 78 RPM disc recordings from 1914 to the mid-1930\u2019s. Hear the music and learn about this affordable collectable.<\/p>\n
From 5 to 8 p.m., the Tioga Arts Council, located at 179 Front Street, will host an exhibition of works by stained glass artist Frank Bocek and painter Carol Freije. Musical guest harpist Meredith Kohn Bocek will also be performing for guests.<\/p>\n
From 6 to 9 p.m., at Tioga Trails Caf\u00e9, located at 50 Lake St., guitarist and vocalist Greg Neff will be performing folk and rock hits from the 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s. Greg is new to the region and performs regularly in the area.<\/p>\n
From 8 to 9 p.m., The Cellar Restaurant, located at 196 Front St. will host the after party \u201cArt Mingle\u201d, featuring the photography of Dan Williams, whose images capture the classic beauty of Owego and Tioga County. Musical entertainment will be guitarist Chris Woodard.<\/p>\n
