Tuesday, July 7, was opening day of the Tioga County Fair in Owego, N.Y. The fair will continue through Saturday, July 11.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Marks, one of the fair organizers wanted to thank Vic Hooker, the Mildred Truman Faulkner Foundation, and the Hyde Foundation for their contributions.<\/p>\n

Marks also wanted to thank all of the volunteers. \u201cWithout them,\u201d said Marks, \u201cwe wouldn\u2019t be able to do any of this. Arriving to help on day one were spouses, children grandchildren, 4-H groups, and a variety of local folks that just wanted to help out.<\/p>\n

Free admission was the bonus on the first day of the fair. The fair also has family-friendly pricing this year, with admission being $5, and a grandstand fee for shows is $5 as well. For $10, guests get a wristband that allows them to ride all of the rides \u2013 which begin on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Kids\u2019 days were held on Tuesday, and will take place again on Thursday with bounce houses, games and prizes. Fidelis Healthcare supported them and funded them.<\/p>\n

There is nightly music, and Playing Possums kicked off the performances on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Coming up this week is the Chitwood Stunt Show, and the all popular demolition derby on Wednesday and Friday evening.<\/p>\n

Between the new pricing, and the attention to their guests, this year\u2019s fair board is providing a great experience for all who attend. Golf carts are available for those who have their mobility impaired, and there are volunteers throughout the grounds to lend assistance or answer questions for guests.<\/p>\n
