Dear Editor,<\/p>\n
Since the re-election of wannabe King, Andrew, I have had a few desperate souls ask me why I\u2019m still sticking around in this old New York State. Especially since the King says I\u2019m just not one of the \u201creal\u201d New Yorkers.<\/p>\n
Since the election (where the King lost most of the state other than a couple of urban areas), I really had to think that one over. Perspective is the best answer I can think of.<\/p>\n
You see, in the early 1600\u2019s my family settled in Massachusetts and New York, and were happy until the French and Indians came along about 1756 and burned down their homes, killed their wives, and kidnapped their kids. Being of good English and Irish stock, and with a strong history of fighting for the British since the Crusades, they fought in such places as Ticonderoga, Crown Point, and Fort William Henry until they drove the French out.<\/p>\n
That worked for about 20 years until Tyranny from another King came to a head at Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. Those same ancestors, loyal British subjects since the Battle of Hastings in 1066, through the Crusades, the French and Indian War, became Patriots in the American Revolution. They had been allowed the taste of Liberty. They had forged a new country without the help of a \u201cKing\u201d. And when they faced Tyranny, they weren\u2019t ready to give up all they had sacrificed because it was said they weren\u2019t \u201creal\u201d New Yorkers.<\/p>\n
We have a few years left of a \u201cKing\u201d that claims to know what\u2019s best for us. He pushes through unconstitutional laws in the middle of the night, he knows what\u2019s best for our kids and wants to take the learning content away from local boards of education, wants to take evaluation of our teachers out of local control through his \u201ccommon core\u201d, and through his \u201cleftist tyranny\u201d wants us to believe that we should move everything of importance over to the government.<\/p>\n
I say let\u2019s keep our perspective. I say a couple of more years with a traitor and tyrant is something we can deal with. You see my ancestors have lived in New York for about 385 years. We\u2019ve seen \u201cKings\u201d come and go. We have dealt with Tyranny before. We\u2019ll be here long after this one who would be King finds a home somewhere else.<\/p>\n
