Gigi\u2019s Place, located at 568 Main St. in Apalachin, N.Y., will celebrate its first anniversary on Tuesday, April 7. A fresh new look and inviting atmosphere greets customers at this charming small-town diner, which offers \u201cgreat food and great company\u201d seven days a week. Don\u2019t let the old \u201cTop of the Hill\u201d sign fool you; it will be updated. The \u201cGigi\u2019s Place\u201d logo welcomes customers at the front door.<\/p>\n

Open Monday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Gigi\u2019s Place boasts the \u201cbest breakfast in town\u201d and serves the breakfast menu all day until closing. With old fashioned breakfast entrees that feature a variety of egg dishes, big breakfasts like \u201cThe Bomb\u201d and the \u201cHungry Man,\u201d French toast and pancakes, and a large selection of omelets and breakfast sandwiches as well as ala-carte items, there is something for every appetite at Gigi\u2019s Place. All menu items are prepared from scratch, always fresh and made-to-order.<\/p>\n

Gigi\u2019s Place owner Natalie Richetti shared, \u201cOne of our famous breakfast items is freshly made sweet potato home fries.\u201d \u00a0A customer favorite, Richetti believes it is a unique side dish not offered elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The lunch menu at Gigi\u2019s Place is impressive, too. For burger fans, crafted burgers like the \u201cCowboy Burger\u201d and \u201cBacon Jalapeno Blue Burger\u201d are just two of many, and hot sandwiches and sandwich melts are comfort food at its finest. From traditional choices like grilled cheese and Philly cheese-steak, there are many other tempting selections like the \u201cLoaded Roast Beef Melt\u201d and the \u201cFlorida Rueben.\u201d Cold sandwiches and clubs, salads, and a host of sides are also available.<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t forget Gigi\u2019s extraordinary homemade soup to complement your lunch or to eat as a meal, such as \u201cManhattan Clam Chowder,\u201d \u201cZuppa Tuscana\u201d and \u201cBacon Cheese Burger,\u201d to name just a few. Chili is served, too, during the chilly seasons.<\/p>\n

Natalie Richetti, a Waverly, N.Y. resident and graduate of Waverly High School, worked as a server for the previous owner, what was \u201cTop of the Hill\u201d restaurant. When that owner announced the business was for sale, Richetti stepped up to the owner\u2019s plate to add her own entrepreneurial style. Working alongside Natalie is her mother, Donna Richetti, affectionately known as \u201cGigi,\u201d who, according to Natalie, is the \u201cmost amazing cook.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Natalie was about eight or nine years old, she recalls participating in a \u201cbring your daughter to work day\u201d and announced at that event, \u201cI want to be a chef someday, and have my own restaurant.\u201d Fast-forward to 2014 when Gigi\u2019s Place officially opened, and that childhood memory is now a reality.<\/p>\n

Natalie is also a very talented baker, creating specialty cakes, cupcakes, cookies and other treats, many of which are served at the restaurant.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe offer homemade cinnamon buns on the weekends,\u201d Natalie shared, \u201cAnd we also have special desserts on Friday\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

On holidays, customers will enjoy exclusive confections, like the recent St. Patrick\u2019s Day cupcakes with added flair.<\/p>\n

Gigi\u2019s Place offers a kids menu for ages 10 and under, and take-out and call-ahead orders are welcomed. Beer-battered haddock is a diner special each Friday and all daily specials are posted on Facebook as well as in the restaurant.<\/p>\n

For the coffee lover, there is a \u201cflavored coffee of the day,\u201d like Jamaican Me Crazy or Vanilla Almond Crunch, among others.<\/p>\n

Customers who dine on Monday at Gigi\u2019s Place receive a breakfast or lunch at half price after a full-price entr\u00e9e is ordered. And, in addition, if customers sign up for \u201cMore Monday\u2019s\u201d before they leave, they are entered into an end-of-the-month drawing for a $25 gift certificate to spend at the diner.<\/p>\n

Not surprisingly, there are a few customers who walk into Gigi\u2019s Place and ask for \u201ca couple of slices to go!\u201d Linking the property to the well-known restaurant, \u201cAngelo\u2019s Pizza,\u201d which was a community favorite for decades, Natalie has had to explain numerous times, \u201cI\u2019m sorry we don\u2019t have pizza, but we have awesome burgers!\u201d<\/p>\n

The sentimental attachment to Angelo\u2019s Pizza has benefited Gigi\u2019s Place since some of those \u201cslice to go\u201d visitors are now part of Gigi\u2019s regular loyal customer base.<\/p>\n

Across the road from Gigi\u2019s Place is the soon-to-be Ransom Steele Tavern. Both establishments, located just a short distance from the Route 434 and Pennsylvania Avenue intersection in Apalachin, will help breathe new life back into two longstanding buildings at the corner of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.<\/p>\n
