There\u2019s a new bus service coming to Tioga County. Covered Wagon Tours, a charter bus business, recently announced that it has purchased a facility in Tioga County.<\/p>\n

The new location, which will be used for dispatching buses, is on Coryell Road in Nichols. Covered Wagon Tours Marketing and Advertising Coordinator Elise Steele said that it\u2019s located right across from Tioga Downs. There is already a facility located on the newly purchased property, and Covered Wagon Tours will utilize the existing structure for its new dispatch center.<\/p>\n

Although the company\u2019s expansion into Tioga County comes right on the heels of the discontinuation of the county\u2019s bus system, Steele explained that this is a different type of service, one not intended to replace the erstwhile public transportation system. She said, \u201cIt\u2019s not like a transit service, it\u2019s really just more to service the area for large groups \u2013 these buses can fit 48-plus passengers. It\u2019s equipped with restrooms and video, and some of them have Wifi.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a press release, company founder and owner Dave Parmley said, \u201cAs our business grew, we started to look at additional property in the Southern Tier. Covered Wagon Tours welcomes the opportunity to work with new and existing motor coach customers. We are committed to the area, and this new terminal allows us to service our customers more efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n

Currently, the company has locations in Hornell, Avon, and Olean. Steele explained that there are already some customers in Tioga and Broome counties, but the hope is that this expansion will make it easier for the company to reach those customers.<\/p>\n

Covered Wagon Tours has been in existence for more than 20 years, and today they\u2019re the largest privately owned Motor Coach Company in western New York.<\/p>\n
