Hear Ye!\u00a0Hear Ye!\u00a0One and all!\u00a0Holiday Magic is returning to Newark Valley once again on Saturday, Dec. 13.\u00a0The magic begins at 4 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
Right off the green, from the Rollie Noble Room next to the post office, holiday music will spill out into the fresh, crisp air, along with that distinctive aroma of gingerbread.\u00a0Let that aroma, mixed with that of hot cocoa, coffee and popcorn, lure you in so you can indulge in Giblin\u2019s Kids Candy Shop (homemade candies offered by fifth graders at Newark Valley Middle School) or Cake Creations (delicious homemade cakes) from the Newark Valley Art Club.\u00a0The Eastern Star will be on hand with delicious pies and the Newark Valley United Methodist Church will also offer homemade soup and bread.<\/p>\n
Enjoy the holiday sounds of Valley Harmony and Curt Osgood and Friends while you visit with your neighbors at the Holiday Magic Cafe.<\/p>\n
Spend your time marveling at all the creatively designed gingerbread houses with a backdrop of holiday greenery and sparkling lights.\u00a0Entries will be judged on visual appeal, use of materials and originality in six categories: experienced adult (16 and up), experienced youth (under 16), novice adult (16 and up), novice youth (11 to 15), novice youngster (10 and under), and group\/family.\u00a0To enter, call JoAnn Byrne 902-5020 or email to jbyrne@nvcs.stier.org.\u00a0Entries will be accepted on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Noble Room.<\/p>\n
Local shops will also dance with lights and activity.\u00a0There will be wine tasting at Village Wine and Spirits and delicious goodies at Cardinal Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Stop in at the Tappan Spaulding Memorial and have your picture taken with the GRINCH and CINDY LOU WHO from Dr. Seuss\u2019 How the GRINCH Stole Christmas!\u00a0They will be arriving at 5 p.m. to visit with library patrons and have agreed to have their pictures taken, even though the GRINCH really hates Christmas!\u00a0There will also be gifts for all the good boys and girls.\u00a0Come in and see what\u2019s happening at your local library.<\/p>\n
The Depot, located off Whig Street, will be dressed to the nines with a Heavenly Frosty Christmas display where angels and snowmen will fill every space.\u00a0 Marvel at the two model trains on a dioramic layout in the waiting room.<\/p>\n
Of course it wouldn\u2019t be the Depot without oodles of delectable food to include pulled pork sandwiches, chili, sloppy joes, hot dogs with the works, and luscious desserts.\u00a0There will also be hot chocolate or mulled cider.<\/p>\n
And Santa – you remember, that jolly old man with the big heart – will come to the Depot from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. to add to his list all the Christmas wishes the wonder-eyed children have to offer.\u00a0While they wait for Santa\u2019s arrival, there will be holiday crafts and cookie decorating – and of course, cookie eating.<\/p>\n
Horse and wagon rides will run between the village green and the depot throughout the evening.\u00a0\u00a0So don your warmest mittens and festive hat and come join in the holiday fun at Newark Valley\u2019s ninth annual Holiday Magic Festival.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
