{"id":38926,"date":"2014-11-16T22:53:08","date_gmt":"2014-11-16T22:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/owegopennysaver.com\/?p=38926"},"modified":"2014-11-24T23:49:10","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T23:49:10","slug":"correction-and-clarification-in-trial-in-tioga-county-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/2014\/11\/16\/correction-and-clarification-in-trial-in-tioga-county-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Correction and clarification in Trial in Tioga County report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent report that highlighted the first day of arguments in the Douglas Every Second Degree Murder trial taking place in Tioga County, N.Y., it was reported that Tioga County Coroner Warren (Stu) Bennett&#8217;s statement surrounding how his observations with the pathologist contributed to him making the determination that the death of Milton Jump was a homicide was objected to and abstained.<\/p>\n<p>It should have stated that the defense attorney, George Awad, objected to these statements made by Bennett because they could be considered hearsay, but Attorney Awad&#8217;s request was swiftly overruled by Tioga County Judge Gerald Keene, and the testimony was allowed to continue.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-three year old Douglas Every is on trial for the alleged murder of 39-year old Milton Jump on Oct. 23, 2013 at his Town of Tioga home.<\/p>\n<p>Milton Jump was found deceased from a fatal knife wound on Douglas Every\u2019s kitchen floor following a 911 call that was made to the home.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, Douglas Every is claiming self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>The trial continues at the Tioga County Courthouse Monday at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent report that highlighted the first day of arguments in the Douglas Every Second Degree Murder trial taking place in Tioga County, N.Y.,&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-38926","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-every","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.2 -
