Katie Pirger (Berkshire) and Cassidy Tobey (Newark Valley), exchange students returned from Mexico and Hungary.<\/p><\/div>\n

On Monday, Sept. 15, Doug\u2019s Fish Fry will be at Everybody\u2019s Bulk Food Market on 596 Fifth Ave. in Owego. A percentage of the proceeds from Doug\u2019s sales will go directly to the Owego Rotary Club\u2019s Youth Exchange Program.\u00a0In addition to items from Doug\u2019s menu, members of the Rotary Club will be offering baked goods to customers.<\/p>\n

While waiting for your order, you are invited to browse the inventory of Everybody\u2019s Bulk Food Market (www.everybodysbulkfoodmarket.com). The store offers a wide variety of products such as locally roasted coffees, cheese, local eggs, specialty condiments, and baking ingredients including delicious pie fillings.<\/p>\n

Between now and Sept. 15, pre-order forms for the fish fry will be available at the store \u2013 these forms provide a convenient way to order for a group and have your food ready for pick-up at a specific time.<\/p>\n

The Owego Rotary Club\u2019s Youth Exchange Program sponsors both \u201cInbound\u201d students, young people from other countries who come to spend a year living and attending high school in our local community, and \u201cOutbound\u201d students, young people from our community who spend a year in another country.<\/p>\n

During the past year, the Owego Club sponsored four Outbound students who returned here earlier this summer. They were Debbie Kunz from Apalachin who spent a year in Denmark, Justin Gillule from Tioga Center who was in Japan, Katie Pirger from Berkshire who was in Mexico, and Cassidy Tobey from Newark Valley who was in Hungary. These four were among the 8,000 exchange students sponsored by Rotary International last year.<\/p>\n

Each of the four returning Outbound students gave a presentation to the Owego Rotary Club this summer, telling about their experience living and attending high school in another country. Each talked about the differences and similarities in culture and how the experience changed them. Each student enjoyed showing the club members their Rotary Blazer with the pins and emblems that they collected during their travels and from their fellow exchange students from around the world.<\/p>\n

During September, the Owego Rotary Club will be looking for candidates for Outbound students for the 2015-16 school year.
