Giving thanks may be difficult to do.<\/p>\n
This year or years may be hard on you.<\/p>\n
You are stuck in turmoil and in despair.<\/p>\n
Man alive, is there anyone to care?<\/p>\n
Being thankful is for those who have everything.<\/p>\n
Life has been good, much happiness to bring.<\/p>\n
It is easy for them to be thankful – they\u2019ve got a lot,<\/p>\n
For us who have little or nothing, thankful we are not!<\/p>\n
Life is drudgery, I wouldn’t really call it living,<\/p>\n
How do you expect me to celebrate Thanksgiving?<\/p>\n
To me, it\u2019s just another free meal or two,<\/p>\n
Another day to get by – it will help see me through.<\/p>\n
I have no hope that life will ever become any good,<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve lived this way so long, I don\u2019t see that it should.<\/p>\n
I am destined to be dirt under everyone’s feet,<\/p>\n
They all walk right by, our eyes never meet.<\/p>\n
If those who pass by who look so down on me,<\/p>\n
Could see inside, that I am human – I am somebody! <\/p>\n
I need more than food, I need people to care,<\/p>\n
I\u2019m living in a pit, I want to get out of there.<\/p>\n
If being so thankful is the way you should live,<\/p>\n
Then how about some compassion and care to give?<\/p>\n
I need gentleness, patience, and love to find,<\/p>\n
Someone to give me hope, who is gracious and kind.<\/p>\n
If God is such a good God, and Jesus, The Savior,<\/p>\n
Just maybe you could come alongside – influence my behavior.<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t really want to live the way that I am living.<\/p>\n
Help me rise above, so that I too, can express Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n
