Police restrict downtown parking on Friday as Owego celebrates ‘Lights on the River’

The Owego Police have announced that beginning at 2 p.m., there will be restricted parking in downtown Owego for Lights on the River, taking place from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday. 

Visitors and residents should be aware that Lake Street and Front Street, between Church Street and Court Street in Owego will be closed. The closings are in effect beginning at 3 p.m. and until 9 p.m. No on-street parking will be allowed in the area. 

Additionally, all vehicles must be removed from Lake Street and Front Street by 2 p.m.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. from Draper Park. The Court Street Bridge, Park Street, and Front Street from Church Street to Academy Street will be closed from 7 p.m. until the conclusion of the fireworks and officials clear the area. 

The police also recommended that those traveling should seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
