Owego Police urge residents to lock up; reports of burglaries in the Village

Following a string of reported burglaries, larcenies, stolen bikes, and vehicle’s entered in the Village of Owego, the Police Chief reminded residents to lock their property so as to protect it and deter further crimes.

They are asking residents that have had anything stolen or suspicious activity near or around their home in the past few weeks to report it by calling (607) 687-2234, or by email to owegopoliceny@gmail.com.

They are currently investigating the reported offenses, and are requesting assistance from the community. If you have a ring doorbell system and or any type of surveillance systems, please review your footage. You may have a suspect on video walking past or through your property.

If you would like to notify the department that you have surveillance system(s) on your property, it may help in the future so they can reach out to you as soon as they receive a report of a crime.

The police also cautioned residents to protect their identity, and to not post their information on Facebook.
