Free Thanksgiving Day Meal in Newark Valley; volunteers needed

A free Thanksgiving Day meal will be offered by a group of Newark Valley and Jenksville churches. Newark Valley United Church of Christ will again be hosting the holiday meal at their hall, located at 32 South Main St. in Newark Valley.

Newark Valley First United Methodist Church, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Jenksville United Methodist Church, along with other volunteers, will all pitch in to prepare and serve this festive dinner.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and pie are all on the menu. This meal has become an annual tradition for the community and typically over 250 meals are served or delivered to local area residents who want to share the holiday with neighbors or who may not be able to cook the meal themselves.
