Spread cheer this year with holiday cards

The Tioga Arts Council (TAC) wants to help spread holiday cheer this year by making 300 handmade holiday-themed cards and delivering them to Riverview Manor Health Care and Elderwood at Waverly before Christmas.

Throughout the month of November, the TAC is asking local youth and families to make Christmas or Holiday Cards for residents at the two assisted living facilities. You can either make them at home (the suggested greeting inside the card is “Happy Holidays from [First Name Only] and deliver them to Tioga Arts Council, c/o Christina Di Stefano, at 179 Front St. in Owego by Dec. 18.

You can also make one or more cards at the following upcoming events: Owego Holiday Showcase, planned for Nov. 9, and with extended hours at the TAC from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; at Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at the arts council; and Lights on the River, planned for Dec. 6. Since this is First Friday in December, TAC will be open late. Visitors can make cards and enjoy other activities at their location on Front Street as well as downtown.

Once they collect 300 cards, they will deliver them to the two facilities on (or before) Friday, Dec. 20. This is a lot of cards and they need your help. All you need to do is make beautiful, original holiday cards and spread holiday cheer this year.
