Sheriff’s Office investigates three-car collision in Richford

On Sept. 17, at approximately 7:55 a.m., the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three- car motor vehicle collision on State Route 79 near Michigan Hill Road in the Town of Richford. 

According to officers, a vehicle traveling east bound on State Route 79 crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a vehicle traveling west bound and then struck another west bound vehicle head on. 

The drivers of the two vehicles that were struck head on were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A portion of State Route 79 was closed to traffic for approximately two hours because of the collision. 

The incident is still under investigation and traffic tickets are pending at this time. 

The Richford Fire Department and Maine EMS assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
