Guest Editorial: Tioga County Alcohol and Drug Services are available

Tioga County Alcohol and Drug Services provide confidential and comprehensive outpatient services to people struggling with addiction to alcohol and all other substances as well as their families and significant others.

Located in the Health and Human Services building at 1062 State Route 38 in Owego, you will find a multidisciplinary team of social workers and credentialed substance abuse counselors who provide person-centered and individualized substance use disorder treatment. This can include group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy along with education about addiction and related issues.

On your first visit you will be provided with a comprehensive substance use assessment to determine if you have a substance use disorder. Referrals can be made for detoxification, inpatient, and residential programs as necessary.

We also provide free and confidential Narcan training and kits. Narcan is a medication used to reverse an opioid overdose. Anyone using opioids or who has a friend or family member at risk of overdosing on opioids is encouraged to come to our office during business hours and ask to be trained to administer Narcan; and you will leave with a kit containing the medication or a prescription you can take to your pharmacy to be filled.

We take most forms of insurance including New York State Medicaid and Veteran’s benefits. We also have an income based sliding fee scale for those who are not insured or if your policy does not cover outpatient substance abuse services.

To inquire about our services you can call the office to speak with a staff member Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (607) 687-4000, or you can utilize our Open Access Walk In Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Please call if these times are not convenient for you as we do have the ability to schedule evening appointments as necessary.
