On Aug. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Owego, will be “Jammin’ Cats,” playing at the Black Cat Gallery for First Friday in August. This talented band, consisting of Robert Seigers, Jim Overhiser, Mike Mangini and Frank Bocek, will entertain with their talented vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and banjo.

Enjoy a festive evening out, listen to the music, take in some beautiful art.

Featured artist for the month of August is Iryna Juravich, with Traditional Ukrainian Beadwork Jewelry, which Iryna learned from her mother in the Ukraine. This traditional beading technique has developed into a lifetime passion studying old and forgotten seed bead decorations.

From Ukrainian costumes, Iryna has transitioned these designs into her beautiful jewelry. Iryna creates natural fiber goods and fleece from her farm raised sheep, alpaca, angora goats and rabbits. She is also an experienced soap maker.
