Spanish Language Conversation Group

An Intermediate-level Spanish language conversation group was formed in April of this year and has been meeting on a weekly basis for the past three months. This new group meets at the Waverly Library every Thursday, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Participants gather for informal conversations in Spanish on a variety of member-chosen topics and have utilized short readings, poems, music, and personal stories, among other things. This is a member-run group that provides participants the opportunity to improve and hone their Spanish speaking and listening skills. The group plans to include Hispanic cultural topics also.

Group membership is open to all intermediate- or advanced- level Spanish language speakers. Native Spanish speakers are very welcome and encouraged to participate.

The group provides a supportive learning environment, which promotes speaking and listening practice, language skill building, and a social connection with others who share an interest in the language and Hispanic culture. Those with advanced skills have an opportunity to converse in Spanish to maintain their level and model improved speaking skills for those at the intermediate level.

The group is seeking additional members as it continues to build a supportive learning environment and cohesive social connection around this shared interest. Membership is free and interested folks with the appropriate language level can simply show up at a meeting to participate.
