It’s that time of year again, high school graduations, summer vacations and the Fourth of July. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 907 in Candor, N.Y. is having their annual Chicken BBQ fundraiser to support the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary, which is to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad and our community.

Some of their recent support was to the Pocket Flag Project, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, visiting veterans at Oxford and playing Bingo with them, a donation to Bath Veterans’ Hospital, and the Poppy Program. The Candor Veteran’s Memorial located in Maple Grove Cemetery, a pet supplies drive for Stray Haven, a donation to a female Veterans Shelter and homeless female veterans in Ballston Spa, N.Y.

The annual barbecue is on July 4, and the cost is $10 per dinner. Pick up starts at 11:30 a.m. at the McNeil Pavilion on Spencer Avenue. Call 659-4724 or 659-7123 for more details.
