Man convicted of heroin charges in the Village of Waverly

On June 7, 2019, Michael Saunders, age 40, was convicted after a jury trial on all 16 felony and misdemeanor counts of the indictment charging him. He had been charged with possessing and selling heroin in the Village of Waverly on four different dates in August and September, 2018, and the possession of heroin with the intent to sell it on Oct. 4, 2018, after a search warrant at his apartment yielded heroin, over $4,000 in U.S. currency, and all the materials necessary for the packaging and selling of heroin.

The Honorable Gerald A. Keene remanded the defendant to the Tioga County Jail without bail, and he will be sentenced at a later date.

The Waverly Police Department and the New York State Police investigated the case.
