Lakeview Chapel presented with bronze statue from Samaritan’s Purse

On Sunday, May 12, Owego’s Lakeview Chapel welcomed Samaritan’s Purse Northeast Regional Director for Operation Christmas Child (OCC), Cecil Pollydore.  

Pollydore’s visit from Albany included the delivery of a bronze statue to the church in commemoration of 15-years of service to the community as an OCC drop-off site.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These simple gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Lakeview Chapel’s Robert Church, who has aided in the logistics of the program for several years, received the OCC bronze statue from Pollydore, who expressed his gratitude to the Lakeview Chapel congregation for their dedication to this ministry. 

With assistance from the surrounding community churches that also participate in filling shoeboxes, Lakeview Chapel has prepared and shipped over 10,000 shoeboxes during its 15-years as a drop-off site, reaching over 70,000 people with the gospel message.
