Beginning on June 7, The Wedding Singer, based on the Adam Sandler film of the same name, will be performed for three weekends at the Ti-Awhaga Performing Arts Center, located at 2 Delphine St. in Owego. Shows take place on Friday and Saturday evening, and for a Sunday matinee.

The Wedding Singer follows Robbie Hart (a wedding singer), who is in love with love, until his fiancée leaves him heartbroken at the altar. As his friends/fellow band members try to console him, he meets Julia, a waitress at the reception hall where the band performs.

Julia is engaged to Glen, a successful businessman, but has doubts about the relationship. Though Robbie and Julia insist it’s “not that kind of thing,” they secretly begin to wonder if the friendship could be destined for something more.

Suddenly, faced with so many questions about life and love, Robbie and Julia turn to friends, who, as it turns out, are also “casualties of love”.

Hilarity ensues as the respective pairs attempt to determine their fate. Will anyone make it down the aisle? Come find out!

Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. beginning on June 7, and running every weekend through June 23.

You can purchase tickets online at www.tiawhaga.com or call 687-2130. Tickets are $18 for students with ID and seniors 60 and older; general admission is $20.

Gallery 41, Lockheed Martin, Route 96 Power and Paddle, and Levine Gouldin & Thompson, LLP, underwrite the show, in part.
