Opinion: The right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon

Dear Editor,

As you already know; the second amendment says; “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

It seems to me that the Democratic Party is “hell bent” on taking away my right to own a firearm. Whether I use it for hunting, for shooting skeet, for protecting my family and my home, or to defend my country and my freedoms. The bottom line is that Congress of these United States, and the Several State legislatures and city government have passed laws, illegal laws! That do infringe on my right to keep and bear arms!

I have one question to you, the “anti-gun” legislators, if the weapon of choice, for the senseless murders that have been committed in our schools, churches, concerts, shopping centers and other public venues would have been a car bomb, would the legislatures be as aggressive to ban the use of automobiles?

Guns are not the killers! The people who use them are the killers! Punish them! Perhaps public executions would deter these mass murderers. But the Supreme Court determined that certain types of execution are “cruel and unusual punishment”! Perhaps we need to get the Supreme Court to pass judgment that states that mass murders at schools, churches, shopping centers, and concerts are also, “cruel and unusual punishment!”

I urge the legislators of this state and this nation to stop their attack on the second amendment, the right to keep and bear arms.

Sincerely,

William L Pletcher
