St. Baldrick’s a success!

Dear Editor,

What a day March 31 was in Candor. Starting with a 9:30 a.m. 5K Run/Walk with over 80 participants to 52 people becoming bald all to raise money for childhood cancer research. An additional six people were shaved before the event, making a total of 58 shavees.

The Candor Ambulance Squad and Candor American Legion Auxiliary were hosts for the 9th Annual Candor St. Baldrick’s event held at the Candor Elementary School. It was a very busy, fun and rewarding event.

Eighty plus runners and walkers took charge of the village streets in Candor for the 5K, and 52 shavees became bald as they stand in solidarity with kids with cancer.

Together, along with the sponsors, donations, raffles and food sold, the event raised more than $53,000 for childhood cancer research. The event organizers would like to thank everyone who made this day possible – all the runners, walkers and shavees.

We would also like to thank every business and individual who donated money, raffles, food, and their time to the event. The success of the event couldn’t happen without all the generous people we have in the Southern Tier.

We hope you will be able to join us again next year.

Sincerely,

Candor St. Baldrick’s Committee
