Owego Little League has won a bid to host the New York State 10U Little League Championship for the next three years. The premier tournament for players 10 years of age and under will bring top Little League teams and talent from around the state to the Village of Owego. A formal announcement was made on Friday, April 12 at the Elks Lodge in Owego.

Owego Little League submitted a competitive package to its parent state organization for consideration. The winning proposal includes 15 championship games that will be played this year in Owego from July 20 through July 27. The overall winner of the tournament will advance to the East Regional Invitational Tournament, facing other high caliber baseball teams from other states.

Founded in 1952, Owego Little League has provided baseball and now softball to area youth free of cost for 67 continuous years. Located at Hyde Park on George Street in the “Flats Community” of the Village of Owego, improvements to the league site continue, which allowed Owego the opportunity to host the 10U Championship.

Hyde Park now consists of five fully enclosed fields plus the Teener field on the Owego Free Academy (OFA) grounds, new dugouts, field house, two storage buildings, batting cage, tee cage, a pitching complex and two pavilions, and is the envy of all who visit. The strong community support over the years has given Owego Little League an outstanding program for the youth of the community.
