Lockheed Martin employees recognized for community service

President’s Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA) were presented to more than 2,400 outstanding Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) employees during National Volunteers Week, April 7 through April 13. The award is a way to thank and honor Americans who, by example, inspired others to engage in volunteer service.

To qualify for a PVSA, individuals had to participate in 100 or more hours of volunteer service over the course of a 12-month period. Lockheed Martin award recipients logged a combined total of nearly 650,000 hours of volunteer service in 2018.

“I am extremely proud and honored to be part of the Lockheed Martin Owego family,” said Hamid Salim, vice president and Owego general manager, adding, “Our employees generously volunteer their time to organizations that they deeply care about. Together, through company-sponsored volunteer programs and personal volunteering to causes that employees are passionate about, we’re helping to improve communities everywhere.”

For the past decade, Lockheed Martin employees have logged an average of 1 million hours of volunteer service every year to advance the causes that are important to them, their communities and the corporation. By providing support to science, technology, engineering, and math education, military and veteran organizations, and numerous local community activities, employees assist countless groups across the country.

Volunteerism is an important way Lockheed Martin creates a positive work environment and offers employees opportunities to serve and strengthen their communities. Honoring employees reinforces the importance of volunteerism and inspires others to make service a central part of their lives.

The PVSA is issued by the Points of Light Institute and the Corporation for National and Community Service on behalf of the President of the United States.
