Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce to host ‘Walk-A-Mile’ event

On Saturday, April 27, a Walk-A-Mile event to raise funds for the Mental Health Association Suicide Prevention programs will take place in Newark Valley. Participants will walk from the Village Green to Trout Ponds and back. A representative from the Binghamton Mental Health Associeation will give a brief talk about the problem of suicide in our area and their suicide prevention efforts. 

The event begins at 10 a.m. Participants will meet at the Newark Valley Green.

A $25 donation will benefit sponsorships, and 80 percent of funds raised will go to support the Mental Health Association’s suicide prevention programs; 20 percent will go to support the Chamber. Children up to age 12 walk free. 

Water, juice, coffee and tea will be provided. Refreshments will be available from a local church for a donation. Walk-A-Mile wristbands and t-shirts will be available for purchase.

Walkers are also welcome on the day of the event, and t-shirts can be purchased at that time if available.
