On March 29, 2019, in recognition of this National Vietnam Veterans Day and to honor and welcome all Vietnam Era veterans home; Tioga County Veterans’ Service Agency is hosting its Second Annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.
The day will begin with a wreath laying ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the County Courthouse at 9:30 a.m.; followed by a ceremony at the Owego VFW Post 1371, 207 Main Street in Owego, where organizers will recognize and honor all Vietnam Era veterans in attendance, the families of those killed in action in Vietnam and families of those Vietnam veterans who have recently passed away. This recognition and honor will take place at 10 a.m., with an unveiling of a special new project to honor veterans in Tioga County.
Lunch will be served to all in attendance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is open to all veterans and their supporters.
The event is sponsored by the Tioga County Legislature, Tioga County Veterans’ Service Agency, Owego VFW Post 1371 and Auxiliary, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 480, and Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration.
