On Saturday, March 23, a “Raise Your Forks” Italian dinner fundraiser for Post Prom 2019 will take place at the Elks Lodge, located at 223 Front St. in Owego. The event, which is being hosted by class members from Owego Free Academy, will feature food provided by Olive Garden from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $10, and advance tickets are on sale now at The Owego Pharmacy and at The Owego Pennysaver office on Front Street.

According to Laura Sage, one of the organizers of the event, her son, Christian Sage, along with Kobe Bogart, Isaiah Bishop, and Laura’s husband Paul, among others,  came up with the idea and thought it would be nice to do something a little different.

Laura Sage noted that she approached Olive Garden, and that the General Manager, James Kominos, was more than happy to help out. Half of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Post Prom Party, scheduled for May 31, and following Prom.

According to Laura, the Post Prom Party creates a safe, drug free environment for students after the prom. “There is a peace of mind knowing they are in a safe environment,” said Laura.

The Post Prom event will feature what Laura described as cool prizes, a DJ, food, games, and much more. It is hoped that the March 23 fundraiser will assist with the costs.

Laura noted that many hands are making the fundraiser work. She noted that Cheryl Bishop has been assisting with promoting the event, Liz Woodard from Owego Free Academy administration has provided assistance, and Suzanne Newswanger, from the Elks Lodge, has helped to coordinate the activities on their end.

All are invited to “Raise their Forks” to contribute to this great cause.
