The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers has approved the 2018 Floyd Hooker youth grants for Tioga County, N.Y. The awards total $21,860 to six non-profit organizations serving Tioga County.

The Tioga County Council on the Arts received a grant of $1,750 to encourage local youth to create art and display it in a new section designated for “Budding Artists” at the annual En Plein Air outdoor show and sale.

The Christian Activities Network received $4,110 to assist with the final stages of construction of the Tennis/Pickle ball court complex in Spencer. 

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier received $2,500 for the purchase of food for the Backpack program.

The Tioga County Soccer Association received $8,000 for the purchase of storage sheds Apalachin, Candor, and Newark Valley.

The Catholic Charities Tioga Outreach Center received $2,500 for the support of student incentives, field trips, STEAM projects, and daily after school activities for students enrolled in the Youth Engagement services (YES) program.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County received $3,000 to support a three generational cooking series for children.

Suzanne Lee, president and CEO of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers stated, “The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers and its Tioga County Advisory Board is committed to making an immediate impact by following the wishes of a former Tioga County, New York resident Floyd Hooker. His commitment to the young people of Tioga County through his fund at the Community Foundation will support youth programs in the county forever. Making a substantial impact by supporting projects and programs that will make a real difference in improving the health and welfare of our young people in all corners of Tioga County, New York.” 

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers serves the counties of Bradford, Potter, Sullivan, and Tioga in Pennsylvania and Tioga County, N.Y. The Community Foundation currently has $6.5 million in assets and manages over 100 funds.
