Suspect caught after pursuit from Sayre to Owego, damaged vehicles

A Germansville, Pa. man was arrested following a Tuesday evening pursuit from Sayre to Owego that left two Sayre Borough police vehicles damaged and nearly resulted in a head-on collision with Waverly police.

According to the Sayre Borough Police Department, 29-year-old Bradley Snyder was driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu on Spring Street with a completely cracked windshield. When police attempted to stop him, Snyder sped away and continued onto Cayuga Street, “where he made several dangerous and evasive maneuvers and crossed to the opposite side of the road several times.”

Snyder’s car then hit a tan SUV attempting to turn left onto Shepard Road as he passed the vehicle while trying to turn on the road at the same time.

Snyder continued across the New York state border into Tioga County and then west on Route 17C where, at one point, police said, he forced a Waverly police vehicle off of the roadway after attempting to hit it head-on.

As the pursuit continued, he collided with a Sayre patrol car and then hit another after turning on to Acres Avenue, causing Snyder to lose control and go into a grassy lot. There, police said he hit both police vehicles again with his car before getting back on Route 17C and continuing through the towns of Barton, Tioga, and into Owego.

During the pursuit, police noted that Snyder had tossed a plastic bag out of his vehicle.

The chase ended on Lisle Road after Snyder’s car collided with a deer, according to police. He was caught following a brief foot chase into a nearby wooded area. Snyder was turned over to the New York State Police and sent to the Tioga County Jail on numerous charges.
