Two arrested following theft at Agway

On Dec. 23 at about 5:35 a.m., the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office received a call of suspicious persons at the Owego Agway, 38 West Ave., in the Village of Owego. Sheriff Deputies immediately responded to the area of the business. 

One subject was apprehended just outside the business and after a brief search of the area a second subject was located in the immediate area hiding in a yard. 

Several items found to be stolen from within the business were located in the outlying area and the following individuals were arrested and charged with the following crimes. 

Zachary R. Martinez, age 19 of 12 Adeline Street, Owego, N.Y. was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony and Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, a Class E Felony. 

A 17 year old male was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony and Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, a Class E Felony. 

Both subjects were arraigned before Justice John Shaffer, Town of Newark Valley Court, and were remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail.
