Oktoberfest will make a return visit to the Sayre Historical Society on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring craft beers from Bluestone Brewery and Lane’s Beverage, delicious food samplings and festive Oktoberfest music.

The annual event helps raise funds for museum activities throughout the year. Admission is $10 and tickets are available from the museum, any board member or at the door.

The second floor of the historic Lehigh Valley Railroad train station will be transformed into a Bavarian beer garden of sorts, with numerous Oktoberfest brews to taste, as well as delicious food items to sample and traditional Oktoberfest music. Tables courtesy of The Grille at the Train Station will grace the hallway for casual conversation, while the Rotating Exhibit Room will have tables filled with food and areas to sit and converse.

The museum, which will be open for tours during the event, is hosting a special Rotating Exhibit on “The Life of M. Louis Gore” featuring paintings and photographs from the life of the Valley artist. A portion of the recent exhibit on World War I has been moved to the center bay-window area of the train station and will be on display for the remainder of the season.

The two HO-scale model train layouts will be operating, as well as the hundred-year-old model train called “Donald.” A nickel starts the driving wheels turning and the song “Mr. Dooley” playing.

New items in the gift shop include three new postcards and a new color booklet on the M. Louis Gore exhibit. The museum is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funded in part by special events like Oktoberfest and through grants from the Bradford County Tourism Promotion Agency, the museum is also a recipient of funds from the Bradford County United Way.
