Guests are invited for a glimpse inside the historic Evergreen Mortuary Chapel (East Avenue / Mountain Road) on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Friends of Evergreen Cemetery and the Town of Owego historian, Peter Gordon, with the assistance of the Tioga County Historical Society, will be available to give presentations on the history of the Rural Cemetery Movement, the Status of Evergreen Cemetery Owego, and the remarkable people and monuments residing in the cemetery, and a glimpse inside the Evergreen Chapel and Mortuary.

Presentations will be given on the hour and the half hour. Special attention will be paid to the stained glass and vaulting of the mortuary chapel. 

There is no charge for this event, but donations to the Friends of Evergreen Cemetery, Owego, for the repair of the Stained Glass are gladly accepted. 

Amazing Glass on East Avenue and Ward and VanScoy at the corner of North and East Avenue generously allowed use of their parking; both locations are a short walk from the Mortuary Chapel.
