New Quilters on the Block (NQB) was established in 1989, where they met in the basement of the Candor Free Library. The first quilt show, held in 1996 at the library, was the inspiration of Mary Dence, who is still an active member.

They invite the public to see the beautiful 2018 Raffle Quilt, Aunt Belva’s Spools, at their annual quilt show planned for Oct. 6 and 7, and as part of Candor’s Fall Festival sponsored by the Candor Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets for the quilt are currently available from any guild member and will also be available at the show.

There will also be a display of silent auction items made by members of the guild and this year, the NQB cookbook will be available to the public for a cost of $10.

NQB is now in its 29th year, and since 2001 has met on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Candor Emergency Squad Building, Main Street, Candor. They welcome new members who may want to learn more about quilting techniques or share their knowledge with others.

Be sure to visit them during Candor’s Fall Festival and see what quilting is all about.
