Truman Foundation awards grant to Spencer Emergency Squad

The Spencer Emergency Squad would like to thank the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation, of Owego, N.Y., for a recent grant of $10,000 to help the squad purchase a new Stryker Power Loader stretcher for the ambulance.

The Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation was established in 1983. The Foundation gives contributions to qualified organizations to help support charitable activities in Tioga County. These grants provide aid for critical needs, capital projects, and seed money for special projects and programs.

Specifically, this grant helped the Spencer Emergency Squad replace their old stretcher with an updated Power Loader system. This system will improve ambulance operator and patient safety by supporting the cot throughout the loading and unloading process. It is designed to reduce spinal load, and therefore prevent cumulative traumatic injuries to operators.

The Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation has helped the Spencer Squad improve the safety of the patients; while at the same time reduced the chances of personal injury and physical strains on the department’s volunteers.
