Candor Free Library hosts free Art Workshop Series starting September 16

Fine artist and picture book illustrator, Johanna Husband, will be teaching a series of free art classes at the library from September through February. These workshops take place on the third Sunday of each month, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Each month Johanna will focus on a topic, and introduce participants to a broad range of media and ways of using art. On Sept. 16, participants will use art markers to explore people in motion.

“These are the same kinds of markers that a lot of comic book and graphic novel illustrators use,” said Husband.

After experimenting with the professional grade media, Johanna will have students draw a favorite character. “Feel free to bring an illustration or photo you want to use as inspiration,” she says.

The free art workshops are open to emerging artists of all ages, from eight to 108, though children younger than 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. There are 15 spaces available for the Sept. 16 workshop, so please register ahead of time by calling Johanna at (607) 659-7375.

Candor Free Library is located at 2 Bank St., just behind the Village Hall.

Funding for the art workshop series is provided by a Finger Lakes Library System Outreach mini-grant.
