Guthrie Federal Credit Union (GFCU) announced recently it has received approval of its community charter expansion application by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA).
The approval means that GFCU can expand its membership to serve all the people who live, worship, work (or regularly conduct business in), or attend school, and business and other legal entities located in Tompkins, Schuyler, Tioga, Chemung and Steuben, N.Y., or Bradford or Tioga Counties, Pa.
The field of membership expansion was approved Aug. 7, 2018.
John Savelli, president and CEO, stated, “This expansion project considered the current geographic locations encompassing the Guthrie Healthcare network, which will allow GFCU to offer our variety of low cost products and services to our surrounding communities. Our new charter will allow for continued support of economic growth in the region by providing access to financial services and future employment opportunities to residents. It also helps us remain a viable organization to give back to the communities we serve.”
