Question: Are Soft Paws a good option for cats who scratch? I wanted to try this with my cat before resorting to declawing.
Answer: Yes! Any option is better than declawing. The glue and caps applied to the nails are safe if ingested and help protect anything your kitty will scratch.
When applying the Soft Paws clip your cat’s nails first to get them short. Apply a small amount of glue to the inside of each cap and slide onto the clipped nail. Make sure if your kitty is longhaired that you pull back the hair around the nail. If any gets glued into the cap, do your best to remove it because as the nail grows, it will pull on the hair and cause pain.
As the nail grows the caps will eventually fall off, in four to six weeks. This is definitely a safe option for your fur-baby!
Question: My white pitbull, Thomas, has a pink nose that gets very red when he’s in the sun! Can dogs get sunburned and should I be putting something on to help?
Answer: Yes they can, and you need to protect Thomas from sun exposure. Pitbulls and other shorthaired breeds are susceptible to the sun’s rays and can get burned. Applying sunscreen to the hairless areas and using a T-shirt made with ultraviolet protective fabric can help.
Make sure you apply sunscreen that is safe for dogs, since Thomas will probably lick it up at some point and a human product can make him sick.
