Rural Ministry is accepting holiday food and gift signups

Applications for Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday food will begin on Monday, Oct. 2 and end on Monday, Oct. 16. Any low to moderate income Owego residents are welcome to apply. First come, first served; they are only accepting the first 250 families.

During this same time period, residents may also register for gifts for all Tioga County children, from infants to 18 years of age.

In order to streamline the signup process and to eliminate a long waiting period, the food pantry will be closed from Oct. 2 through Oct. 13; during these two weeks, extra volunteers will be on hand to assist with the holiday application process. The food pantry will re-open on Monday, Oct. 16.

If any family or organization is interested in “adopting” a family for the holidays, contact Sister Mary O’Brien by Monday, Oct. 16 at 687-3021 or by email to mobriencsj@stny.rr.com.
