Legislature to adopt county budget

On Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Edward D. Hubbard Auditorium located at the Ronald E. Dougherty County office building on Main Street in Owego, the Tioga County Legislature will adopt the county budget for 2017.

This year’s budget, according to Rita Hollenbeck, budget officer for Tioga County, reflects a zero percent increase in the tax levy. However, she added, equalization rates may affect various town rates.

Other planned legislative actions include a transfer of funds for various county services and the reappointment of members to the Tioga County Planning Board and other branches of local government.

The Owego Pennysaver website has a copy of the county’s proposed budget, dated Nov. 15, 2016. Click here to view the document.
