Remembrance ceremony for 9/11 planned for Thursday

There will be a memorial ceremony on the morning of Sept. 11, 2014 to commemorate that day, 13 years ago when American lives were lost to acts of terrorism on U.S. soil.

At 8:30 a.m. everyone is invited to join members of the Owego Fire Department, local law enforcement agencies, and emergency services personnel from around Tioga County at Central Station, located at the corner of North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego, N.Y.

At 8:45 a.m., a walk to the fireman’s fountain in the Courthouse Square will begin. Once at the fountain, a short commemoration and remembrance ceremony will be held.

A New York State Police bagpiper will be on hand, wearing a kilt made from State Police uniforms during this time to honor the firemen and police lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
