Village of Owego to reduce coverage

Owego’s Mayor Kevin Millar announced on Tuesday that the Village of Owego Police Department would not be staffing the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift for the month of September due to a staffing shortage.

The Police Department has three budgeted positions that are unfilled, one officer on administrative leave and one officer attending the Police Academy.

The New York State Police will cover calls for service by calling (607) 687-3961, or the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office by calling (607) 687-1010.
